Rio Grande Revelers
Over 100 years ago, New Orleans was (and still is) a melting pot of culture and music. From sung blues, marching brass bands, church spirituals, and piano ragtime, a unique style of music originated that became the foundation of a new genre of music, that we now just call JAZZ! The RGR aims to bring to life those early songs and bands (and the many subsequent revivals) that now are called Trad Jazz.
Jazz... "America's only true art form..."
It all started with New Orleans Jazz, also known as Traditional Jazz, Dixieland Jazz, Early Jazz, or Hot Jazz. It originated early in the 20th century, and is still as fun and joyful as it was then.
